Twitch cracking down on viewbotting
Twitch's Crackdown on Viewbotting: A recent Twitch update aimed at detecting and removing viewbots has led to a significant drop in viewership across the platform. Some industry analysts report a 5-22% drop in sitewide viewership, exposing many streamers who had artificially inflated viewer counts. This has caused frustration among creators who have lost sponsorship opportunities and has raised questions about the ethics of viewbotting, which can be done by a streamer, an agency, or even a third party without the streamer's knowledge.
VTuber Elite’s Mass Departure from VShojo
Ironmouse, one of Twitch’s most beloved VTubers, left her agency VShojo, accusing them of withholding more than $500,000 in donations intended for a health-related charity fundraise. The fallout triggered the departure of 12 of the 13 affiliated VTubers, including Kson. Ironmouse launched a fundraising campaign independently, raising nearly $1 million through community support
Dr Disrespect viewers are ignored!
Dr Disrespect and Battlefield 6: Dr Disrespect has publicly criticized stream rankings for not including his viewership for the new game Battlefield 6. He stated that he had 1.1 million views for the game with no drops, but was absent from many ranking lists. His absence from official Twitch and other platform lists is a result of his ban from Twitch in 2020 for allegations of sexting a minor. This incident highlights the ongoing shift in the streaming landscape, as creators banned from Twitch find new homes on platforms like Rumble and Kick.
